Safe Supply is an outdoor grocery store which was setup by Bow Market, Somerville to support the local food community and reduce undue pressure on frontline workers by providing safe access to essential goods. It is designed to provide communities with a safe shopping alternative during the COVID-19 pandemic. Safe Supply operates on pre-scheduled time slots and one-way paths which allow shoppers to visit six essential grocery sections, verbally select their groceries, and pay—all without touching anything or coming within six feet of another person. It is a blueprint for safely connecting food, people, and public space. This method can be used by various markets in the US and beyond to provide a safe shopping experience to the customers.
